The Tennessee Valley Authority is one of two Tennessee employers selected as finalists for the
2012 Freedom Award, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency, announced today.
Marketing firm iostudio of Nashville was also selected as a finalist.
The Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award is given to employers in recognition of their support of employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
Nominations for the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the Department of Defense’s highest award for civilian employers, are now being accepted.
As of Nov. 1, more than 1,700 Guard and Reserve members had submitted nominations, including 38 nominations from Tennessee service members, according to news release from Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, a defense department agency.
Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 16. Nominations may be made by service members or a family member acting on their behalf.
The deadline for nominating employers for the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support
Freedom Award is less than five weeks away.
National Guard and Reserve members and their familiers have until Jan. 17, 2011 to nominate employers for the award which is given annually to recognize businesses for outstanding support of Guard and Reserve members.
