Good news expected from Scripps Networks earnings

Analysts are expecting solid revenue growth and improved earnings when Scripps Networks Interactive reports first quarter results on Thursday.

Increased advertising and strong ratings are driving growth at the Knoxville-based lifestyle media company, according to Investors.com.

“Based on positive undertones from advertisers as well as recent ratings
strength, we expect ad revenue to accelerate throughout the year,”
Macquarie Capital analyst Amy Yong said in a report quoted by Investors.com.

Higher profits expected from Scripps Networks

Analysts are expecting Knoxville-based lifestyle media company Scripps Networks Interactive to report increased fourth quarter profits on Thursday.

scripps2_asb_13138.jpgThe average estimate is net income of 81 cents per share, the Wall Street Cheat Sheet reported earlier this week. That would be an increase from 68 cents a year ago.

Anaylsts also look for a drop in year-over-year revenue for the second straight quarter, according to Forbes.

New stations, political ads boost Scripps’ TV revenue

Media company E.W. Scripps, parent of the News Sentinel, said it expects to see a sharp increase in TV revenue this year, while newspaper revenue should fall slightly.

Television revenue should jump 50 percent in 2012, due in part to increased political advertising and the recent acquisition of nine TV stations from McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Co., Cincinnati-based Scripps said in prepared remarks at the Noble Financial Equity Conference.

Scripps Networks global push paying off

Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. is taking international expansion serious. This week the cable television and Internet content company continued its global push with announcement of a licensing agreement with London-based Passion Distribution.

Passion will license Food Network, HGTV and DIY Network programming “to entertainment channels throughout the world,” according to a Scripps Networks press release. Shows that will be licensed include, HGTV’s Design Star and Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, Scripps said.

Scripps international campaign should be good for Knoxville, given that its production operations are based here. The company’s corporate headquarters are in Cincinnati.
