Junior Achievement announced Tuesday it will induct three Knoxville area businessmen into the East Tennessee Business Hall of Fame on April 11th in a ceremony at the Knoxville Convention Center.
They are Joseph Hollingsworth Jr., owner and CEO of the Hollingsworth Companies; Steve West, chairman of West Chevrolet Inc. and West Properties Llc; and the late Jim Shelby, a longtime business and financial adviser who died last July.
Presenting sponsors of this year’s induction ceremony are Pilot Travel Centers and the Greater Knoxville Business Journal.
Knoxville businessman Randy Boyd and his wife, Jenny, have given $1 million to the Foundation of Pellissippi State Community College to help fund the purchase of the new Strawberry Plains Campus, the college announced today.
Boyd, is president and CEO of Knoxville-based Radio Systems Corp. and PetSafe, a developer of pet behavior, containment, lifestyle product solutions and services.
The Boyds made the donation ” to re-purpose a long-unused facility and to improve access to educational opportunities for thousands of students,” the news release says.
