Packaging manufacturer RockTenn is closing its corrugated box plant in Knoxville, a company official confirmed today.
Thirteen salaried and 75 hourly workers will lose their jobs. The plant will cease all operations by the end of August, said Robin Keegan, director, corporate communications.
The closure is “an economic decision based on plant capacity,” Keegan said.
RockTenn, based in Norcross, Ga., recently purchased Mid South Packaging LLC, a specialty corrugated packaging manufacturer with operations in Cullman, Ala., and Olive Branch, Miss.
