Watching Fox news at the gym every morning is good motivation for burning calories, but I always need a reality check when I get to work.
Here’s a dose of reality that I didn’t see on Fox this morning:
Ford posts best 1Q profit in 13 years
UPS raises 2011 forecast as 1Q profit soars
Consumer Confidence Index rises in April
Together, these reports indicate that consumers are willing to spend, they’re feeling somewhat better about job creation and businesses are reaping the benefit.
For those of you keeping score, legal challenges to health care reform are now 3-2 in FAVOR of reform. A third judge this week tossed out a lawsuit challenging reform on constitutional grounds. Two judges previously ruled against it.
Despite what some on the radical right would have you believe, rejection of the health care reform law is not a given.
Here are a couple of reports on the recent ruling. One from the left and one from the right.
New York Times: A Third Judge Validates Health Care Overhaul Law
Fox News: Judge Tosses Out Lawsuit Against Obama Health Care Law
She’s all over TV and now she may be all over.
California’s attorney general on Monday filed a $34 million suit against the “tax lady” Roni Deutch, accusing her firm of making false promises to help taxpayers resolve IRS problems.
It’s interesting to see how readers respond to reports filed by different news outlets. Depending on who’s commenting, the suit is election year politics by California AG Jerry Brown or a righteous prosecution.
Check out the differing views expressed in comments posted on Yahoo! News and Fox News.com.
What’s your take on the tax lady?
I was at the gym this morning working off last night’s M&M Pretzels when I had a great idea to help the economy.
To be fair, the credit should go to Fox news.
The Fox folk were making fun of how much former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are paying for their daughter Chelsea’s upcoming wedding — $3 million, maybe as much as $5 million, according to various reports.
As the Fox story played across the screen, I thought, sure, this is a lot of money and I hope my girls don’t get any ideas, but what a boost to the economy.
