Knoxville-based coal producer Xinergy Ltd. has added the head of a South Carolina coal brokerage to its board of directors.
Justin Converse, chairman and CEO of Converse and Company Inc., replaces former Xinergy director David Smith, who resigned “to pursue personal interests,” Xinergy said in a statement released earlier this week.
Converse, based in Spartanburg, S.C., serves utility and industrial customers throughout the Southeast, according to its website
Converse also is chairman and CEO of Glassrock and Co., a Sumter, S.C.- based sand and ready mix company and bulk freight hauler.
“Justin’s deep understanding of the coal markets, combined with his long term relationship marketing Xinergy’s coal, positions him well to add significant value to our Board, particularly as we ramp production at our South Fork mid vol metallurgical mine,” Xinergy Chairman Todd Swanson said in a news release.
Earlier this month, Xinergy completed the sale of its Straight Creek and Red Bird thermal coal mining operations to affiliates of JW Resources Inc. for $47.2 million.
Xinergy has mining operations in West Virginia and Virginia. It sells thermal and metallurgical coal to electric utilities, steelmakers, energy trading firms and industrial companies.
