Miller Energy Resources has added veteran corporate lawyer Kurt Yost to its executive team.
Yost, 40, joins Miller as senior vice president and general counsel, the Knoxville-based oil and natural gas exploration company announced today.
“We believe that Kurt’s wide range of legal experience, particularly in corporate finance, is the right fit to lead our existing legal department,” CEO Scott. Boruff said in a statement.
Yost has nearly 15 years experience in corporate and commercial law. He previously worked for the Manhattan firm, Pepper Hamilton, Mayer Brown and Allen & Overy, where he represented corporate clients on mergers, acquisitions and other matters, according to a news release. He also has experience “with securities law, employment law, regulatory compliance issues, intellectual property law, real estate practice and contract law,” the release says.
Yost’s hiring is the latest move by Miller to strengthen its executive team since it was hammered with a series of class action lawsuits last fall following a controversy over its earnings report.
Miller admitted that errors were made and filed a corrected earnings statement. But the company said no one involved with filing the incorrect earnings report last July “intentionally or knowingly violated any Federal securities regulations,” according to the amended 10-K.
