If you’re wondering what connection Knoxville has to rapper Vanilla Ice — and who isn’t — wonder no more.
Vanilla Ice, or Robert Van Winkle, is the host of “The Vanilla Ice Project,” a home remodeling show on DIY Network.
And there’s the connection. DIY is part of the Knoxville-based Scripps Networks cable empire.
The show debuted this month and is on Thursday’s at 9 p.m. If you missed earlier episodes you can watch them online.
The show follows the rapper amd his crew as they remodel a 7,000-square-foot mansion in Palm Beach, Fla. I caught some of the video online. Much to my surprise it was actually entertaining to watch “the only home improvement expert with street cred” swing a sledge hammer and fix sprinklers. Watching him pick out wallpaper for the master bath was a bit weird, though.
Although he’s making money flipping houses, Van Winkle assured viewers he is not leaving rapping behind.
