Free workshops: Women in green; myths of green construction

Workshops on women in the green work force and unraveling the myths of green construction will be held Thursday at the Walters State Center for Workforce Education in Morristown.

Both workshops are free and will be held in room 110 of the Clifford H. “Bo” Henry Center for Business and Technology. Reservations are requested.

Women in Green is from 1 a.m. to noon. Panelists representing renewable energy, alternative transportation fuels and green building will discuss “how to encourage more women to become involved through both entrepreneurship and employment,” according to a press release.

Panelists include, Toni Winston of Tiburon Energy/Tiburon Construction; Evelyn Winther, of FLS Energy; Sherry Furr, of InsulTech; Emily DeVillers of the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition and Mary Shaffer Speight of Efficient Energy Tennessee.

Myths Behind Green Building/Construction is from 1 to 3 p.m. This seminar will look at the effects of Greenwashing; the expense of green building and how going green effects the bottom line of building construction and maintenance.
