The Georgia Department of Transportation got some unwanted attention recently when “Tennessee” and “Highway” were misspelled on sign on U.S. 27 in the northwest corner of the state.
“A (person’s) name, sometimes you make mistakes. But Tennessee, there’s no excuse for that,” Mohamed Arafa, a spokesman for the Georgia Department of Transportation, told the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Mistake? Come on.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I wonder if some folks in Georgia are still mad about that boundary dispute that bubbled a couple of years ago over Georgia’s claim to water from the Tennessee River.
Mistake? Maybe. But they still can’t have our water.
