Ben Franklin gets a security makeover

Everything you could possibly want to know about the redesigned $100 banknote is now available online, the government announced in an e-mail blast to the media today.

The website seems a bit cheesy, but any business that handles cash should download the training materials to learn more about how to spot fake currency.

Nothing can ruin a retailer’s day faster than finding a bunch of counterfiet $100s in the cash register. While the average shopper doesn’t carry a sack full of $100s to the mall, it never hurts to be careful.

The new Ben Franklins, which are scheduled to be issued Feb. 10, 2011, include several new security features, including a 3-D security ribbon woven into the paper and a disappearing bell.
