Knoxville-based security technologies provider Sword & Shield Enterprise Security has again made the VAR Business 500 list.
Sword & Shield is No. 300 on the 2010 list, the fourth consecutive year the company has made the list, and up more than 100 places from the previous year’s list.
Computer Reseller News compiles the rankings, which rate solutions providers according to their gross revenue.
Sword & Shield’s top line revenue soared to $73.6 million in 2009, up more than 66 percent from 2008, CEO John McNeely said.
“Even though there have been some pretty challenging economic times in the last few years, security is still a very good market,” McNeely said.
It must be. Even when the economy is firing on all cylinders, most companies don’t see 66 percent revenue growth. But computer security probably is one of the truly recession-proof businesses, especially when you do a lot of business with government, which Sword & Shield does.
Sword & Shield anticipates overall growth of 20 to 25 percent over the next few years. To help with the immediate increased workload, the company is looking to hire five or six security consultants, McNeely said.
Sword & Shield’s headquarters are at 1431 Centerpoint Drive Suite 150 in West Knox County. It also has an office in Washington D.C.
