Vandy will be stewing for the next 12 months

But better them than the Vols.  Not sure I’ve ever seen a college coach jacked up more than Franklin after tonight’s loss to the Vols.  Fist bump to Rogers, Waggner and Gordon for stepping up and making plays when the Vols need them most in the 4Q.  Now, Vols just got to figure out how to beat those scraggly cats in Lexington on Gameday 13 & get to bowl eligible.  The blue team played tough today in Athens.

Vols-Vandy recap

Gameday 12 Vol Stuff

Gameday 12 begins a scenario that no Vol fan wanted to see a repeat
of from 2010.  Vols must beat Vandy and Kentucky to reach bowl eligibility
for the 2nd straight year.  This year appears to be more challenging than
2010 due to an anemic Vol offense and a defense that was shredded on
Gameday 11.  As has been stated in this blog previously, there isn’t a
college football program in the country that needs an extra month of
practice more than Tennessee.  Vandy is coming to Neyland for their
Gameday 12 matchup with the Vols believing they can win on the Vols
home field.  Kentucky believes they also can take care of the Vols in
Lexington on Gameday 13.  If this bunch of Vols get to a bowl this
year, they will earn it with two hard fought wins over long time SEC
rivals who both believe this is their year to knock off a stuggling Vols
football team.  Can the Vols possibly have any confidence coming out
of the Gameday 11 debacle at Arkansas?  We’ve all watched highlights
from that game all week and the punt return against the Vols will be
replayed for years.  Vandy knows they shot their own foot off on their
home field to let that same Arkansas team off the hook last month. And
then the following week it took a recovered onsides kick by the Gators to
hold off a Vandy upset in the swamp.  There is no question Vandy has played
some common opponents tougher than the Vols did.  Inserting Jordan Rogers
as the starting QB energized the Vandy offense early in the season and they
have played competitive football since.  Will the Vols defense be able to
contain the multi-threat Vandy QB?  Will Tyler Bray being back trigger some
energy in a lifeless Vol offense that hasn’t scored a 2nd half touchdown
since Gameday 6?  Will the Vol offensive line be able to protect Bray
against a blitzing Vandy defense?  Will #21 bring it every play and be
a diference maker for a Vol team desperately needing play makers to step
up?  It’s been another tough season on Rocky Top.  The Vols can close it
out on a much more positive note if they can find enough game to take
care of their two ole traditional season ending SEC rivals.
