Former state Rep. Joe Carr is one of three Republicans filing petitions to oppose U.S. Rep. Diane Black in the 6th Congressional District primary while 13 Republicans and four Democrats filed as candidates in the 8th Congressional District seat being vacated by Republican U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher.
On the other hand, two incumbent Republican U.S. representatives, John J. “Jimmy” Duncan in the 2nd District and Marsha Blackburn in the 7th, have no primary opponents. Neither does Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper in the 9th.
The deadline for filing qualifying petitions was Thursday.
The state Division of Elections has posted a list of those filing petitions in congressional races HERE.
