Former Tennessee House Republican Caucus Chairman James F. “Jim” Boyer of Corryton died Thursday at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, according to an obituary published Saturday. He was 76.
Elected to House District 19 in 1992, Boyer served until 2002, when he did not seek reelection.
An Air Force veteran and University of Tennessee-Knoxville graduate, Boyer was a land surveyor and at one point was president of the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, three sons, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bridges Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, 4-7 p.m., with series to follow at Clear Springs Baptist Church in Mascot.
