Corker Not in Running for VP

You can take U.S. Sen. Bob Corker’s name off the list of potential vice presidential candidates, reports Michael Collins.
The Chattanooga Republican’s office says that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign is not vetting him for the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket this fall.
Corker, who is running for a second term in the U.S. Senate, had been the subject of early speculation that he could potentially be a running mate for Romney. But the speculation waned in recent weeks as the Romney campaign began to search in earnest for a running mate.
Presidential candidates usually make their pick right before their party’s national convention, but Romney’s advisers have said he might announce his decision earlier to help boost fund-raising. The Republican National Convention will be held Aug. 27-30 in Tampa, Fla.
