Audit Reports Misdeeds in Lenoir City

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (AP) — An audit of Lenoir City’s municipal cash handling has brought about a change in policy.
The annual audit found some employees in the office of the city clerk were cashing personal checks out of municipal funds — a practice that is no longer allowed. The report said sometimes the checks were held, instead of being promptly deposited, reports The Knoxville News Sentinel.
The report also stated a city worker made three purchases on city accounts that weren’t for municipal purposes.
The audit report, which was released Tuesday, comes as an investigation continues into missing reprimands that were issued to four employees.
The News Sentinel obtained copies of the reprimands which were not in the employees’ personnel files that a reporter read.
A TBI investigation of the files continues.
