GOP Seeking Foes for Gordon, Davis

The national Republican Congressional Campaign Committee is trying to recruit candidates to make a run at Democratic Congressmen Bart Gordon and Lincoln Davis next year, apparently with some success, reports The Tennessean.
Rutherford County Republican Chairwoman Lou Ann Zelenik and state Sen. Jim Tracy are listed as top prospects against Gordon of the 6th District with George Congressman Lynn Westmoreland and California Congressman Kevin McCarthy seeking a meeting with them.
Zelenick, who lost the Republican primary race in House District 48 last year to Rep. Joe Carr, said she is “very, very, very seriously” considering the race. But Tracy missed a meeting with the two out-of-state congressmen, citing a prior commitment. (Which, of course, sounds like he’s not too interested.)
A couple of other congressmen were set to meet with Dr. Scott DesJarlais of South Pittsburg, who has already filed papers to run against Davis.
As the Tennessean notes, both Democrats are formidable incumbents. Gordon trounced his token GOP opponent with 74 percent of the vote in 2008; Davis, against a somewhat more active Republican, still got 59 percent of the vote last year.
