Injury update: Josh Smith, Devrin Young, Alex Bullard

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Vols freshman receiver Josh Smith, nursing a hamstring injury, didn’t participate in the portion of practice open to media.

Smith did dress out and participate in walk-throughs, and coach Butch Jones said he expected Smith would be able to play Saturday against No. 1 Alabama.

Receiver Devrin Young, who returned from a hand injury against South Carolina, went through practice without a green injury and without any apparent limitations.

Offensive lineman Alex Bullard, who sat out the first three series of the South Carolina game due at least in part to disciplinary reasons, has also been bothered by an apparent foot injury. But he looked fine in Tuesday’s practice.

Left guard Alex Bullard didn’t practice on Tuesday with apparent foot injury, but Butch Jones said he was just using the bye week to heal a long-term injury and there was no risk of him missing the South Carolina game on Oct. 19.

Tennessee coach Derek Dooley said all the right things in Monday’s press conference — he even displayed an impressive knowledge of Georgia State’s personnel — but this game should be a breeze.

Because of that, most of the focus this week has been looking back to the N.C. State game or looking ahead to the Florida game on Sept. 15.
