KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Our award-winning* #PracticeGram feature is back for another day.
I have a new app on my phone that makes it easy to get frame-by-frame captures, and I went sort of crazy on the sidelines.
My favorite sequence is above and below. Cody Blanc goes up for a pass from Justin Worley, but it zips over or through his hands.
And comes shooting right toward me (below). Luckily I flinched just in time to avoid it hitting me in the, uh, midsection.
The next two-photo sequence is similar. The pass is in the air for receiver Dylan West and safety LaDarrell McNeil.
McNeil can’t hang onto the ball, but it’s not clear he would have come down in-bounds anyway.
I wasn’t trying to shoot Cody Blanc all day, but he came up in a lot of shots. Below, he’s tracking a pass nicely over his shoulder. Will he stay in bounds?

Blanc tries to drag his right foot. You can even see the cleat marks in the photo below. But the official rules that his left foot came down out of bounds first. Still a nice catch.

I zoomed in too far on this photo and thus lost the high resolution, but it does show the ball dancing on Blanc’s finger tips.

Blanc catches the ball, turns upfield and heads straight for a bro on the sidelines! (It’s actually Andrew from Tennessee Sports Radio, who was a good sport about it).

Okay, enough with the action photos.
Here’s a pensive offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian…

This is Muscle Beach, where injured players work out during practice. I was impressed to see that linebacker Curt Maggitt was basically the leader of the group.

Offensive line coach Don Mahoney talks strategy with his unit during a break in the action….

Quarterback Nathan Peterman could be in a Gatorade ad….
