Facebook is changing the way you see content

Below is an excerpt posted yesterday in Facebook’s newsroom:

Starting soon, we’ll be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook when people click on those stories on mobile. This means that high quality articles you or others read may show up a bit more prominently in your News Feed, and meme photos may show up a bit less prominently.

If you’re on Facebook, you’re now a piece of art

Congratulations, if you are on Facebook you are now part of a massive art project.


“Faces of Facebook” includes photos of all (as of this writing) 1.278 billion users of the popular social media site.  Don’t worry if you can’t spot your face right off the bat, honestly the entire thing looks like static noise to me.

The good news is, when the site is working, you can find where your face lives and where your mug lives isn’t random, everyone’s face was added in the order they joined Facebook.  I’m number 555,569, 12 rows from the top.
