ORNL gets $2.54M grant for windows research

ornl2Oak Ridge National Laboratory has received a $2.54 million grant from the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) for a research project to develop a “low-cost, multi-layer, highly transparent and thermally insulating film” for windows.

The Oak Ridge award was one of 14 projects funded by the Department of Energy sub-unit to improve the energy efficiency of windows for commercial and residential buildings. ORNL is working collaboratively with Madico Inc. and Georgia Tech.
