At the recent annual meeting of the Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees, Bob Hightower was elected president for a second term. I wasn’t at the meeting, but according to minutes provided by the group’s leadership, other officers elected were Pete Peterson, Dave Whitehead and Garry Whitley as vice presidents; Tony Angelelli, secretary; David Rupert, treasurer; Judy Kibbe, communications; Dave Mason, past president.
Bill Brock, Gerald Johnson and Bob Sadlowe were elected to the board of directors, replacing three retiring members (Shirley Cates, Steve Stow and Joe Setaro).
Among the issues discussed at the meeting were benefits for post-65 retirees at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The CORRE leadership earlier this year did a survey of members regarding the changes in benefits. Morgan Smith, chief operating officer of Consolidated Nuclear Security, the government’s managing contractor at Y-12, also spoke at the meeting and fielded some questions from retirees.
About 200 retirees attended the group’s annual meeting, which was held Oct. 19 at the Heritage Fellowship Church in Oak Ridge.
