— Deputy Energy Secretary Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, who’s scheduled to speak Thursday at the Oak Ridge Women’s Workshop, is reportedly in town today for a tour and briefings at the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant.

— The Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance plans to stage a protest at Y-12 on Friday (March 12), coinciding with NNSA Administrator Frank Klotz’ visit to celebrate an early milestone on the Uranium Processing Facility project. “The UPF bomb plant’s only mission is to produce weapons of mass destruction,” OREPA coordinator Ralph Hutchison said in a statement.

Oral arguments in the Plowshares protesters’ appeal on their sabotage convictions for the July 28, 2012 break-in at Y-12 will be held Thursday at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. Supporters of Sister Megan Rice, Michael Walli and Greg Boertje-Obed are expected to be in attendance, although perhaps not in the numbers that were at their May 2013 trial in Knoxville.
