Nobel Laureate at ORNL

Ada Yonath, Nobel Laureate (2009 in Chemistry), was at Oak Ridge National Laboratory this week and spoke Thursday in the Eugene Wigner Distinguished Lecture Series. She’s shown here in the question-and-answer session that followed her talk at the Iran Thomas Auditorium at ORNL’s Spallation Neutron Source. The title of her speech was, “Combating Species-Specific Antibiotics Resistance.” Yonath is the Martin S. and Helen Kimmel Professor of Structural Biology and director of the Helen and Milton A. About Frank Munger

Senior Writer Frank Munger covers the Dept. of Energy's Oak Ridge facilities and many related topics — nuclear weapons, nuclear waste and other things nuclear, environmental cleanup and science of all sorts. Atomic City Underground is, first and foremost, a news blog, but there's room for analysis, opinion and random thoughts that have no place else to go.
